Dock purists prefer all-wood docks. A wooden dock has a lifespan of 20 to 25 years. It's more economical than an aluminum dock and can be repaired more easily over the decades. It will be much heavier than an aluminum dock, which is good on the water: you want the right weight for greater stability. Storing a wooden dock for the winter can be a challenge.
